Case Study: Flain Productions, Inc., Independent Filmmakers

Flain Productions, Inc., a NYC-based independent film company, needed assistance in putting their business on the map. Several partners collaborated to plan and execute Flain's business strategy, designed to impact revenue for their filmmaking.

First step was to consult NYC based law firm Merle, Brown and Nakamura, PC, who recommended the best course of legal action including filing paperwork to incorporate Flain Productions as a separate entity under which the team at Flain conducts their filmmaking business. Benefits of incorporation include protection of personal assets (as separate from business assets), formalization of Flain's business goals and improved eligibility for tax deductions. In other words, Flain was no longer simply the shared hopes and dreams of a group of friends, but was a real business committed to making films.

The next step was to ramp up marketing efforts. To increase donors, askingrid.com marketing consultants hosted an auction event at a local NoLita bar leveraging the popularity of community-based interest in the arts. The auction items were donated by askingrid partners and contributed to the organizations' fundraising goals. Flain Productions, Inc. walked away with additional funding to support their first film and increased visibility for their company.

More than that, it accomplished what we here at askingrid.com focus on doing everyday: putting small business owners in touch with one another to achieve the goals of the individual by leveraging the many relationships in the community.
